Ford Extended Warranty Review
New Ford cars come with a three year warranty which consists of a one year unlimited mileage warranty plus a second and third year warranty with an overall 60,000 mile limitation.
You extend the Ford warranty, to cover up to 5 years, but only within twelve months of the car's date of first registration.
So rather than purchasing a new extended warranty, you are replacing the original warranty with a longer warranty.
The fourth year warranty consists of one year's unlimited mileage coverage plus three further years' coverage with an overall 80,000 mile limitation.
The five year warranty consists of one year's unlimited mileage coverage, plus four further years' coverage with an overall 100,000 mile limitation.
Any unexpired warranty period can be transferred to the next owner.

We advise noting the following issues when considering a Ford extended warranty and comparing them to the offers from independent warranty companies:
- Ford provide the warranty directly - it is not from a 3rd party insurer.You will not therefore be able to use the Financial Ombudsman Service if there is a problem, so make sure you understand their complaints procedure.
- Make sure you know the period you need the car to be covered for. This will affect the price of independent warranties that you compare the Ford offer to.
Details Of Ford Extended Warranty Ford Extended Warranty - what's protected and what's not
Ford Protect is an extension of the one year unlimited mileage warranty and covers:
- Engine
- Transmission
- Catalytic converter
- Front axle
- Rear axle
- Steering
- Braking system (excluding brake pads, brake discs, brake shoes and brake drums)
- Air conditioning
- Heating
- Ford audio systems (if factory-fitted)
- Airbag
- The entire electrical system including engine control, central locking, ABS, electrically adjusted seats and all other components making up the electronic safety and convenience system factory fitted to your car
Exclusions
- All wear and tear parts and labour to replace these parts
- Damage to vehicles that have been neglected, modified or used for racing or rallying
- Bodywork and paint repairs, repairs to glass, upholstery and interior trim
