Go Car Warranty Warranty
Go Car Warranty Review
Go Car Warranty, like Click 4 Warranty, is underwritten by the Red Sands Insurance company. Red Sands Insurance also provide the Auto Protect car warranty that is sold or given away in many car dealerships around the UK. They are a dominant force in this marketplace.
Go Car Warranty offer three levels of cover. The base-level of cover, called 'Complete', is one of the cheapest warranties in the market and covers a relatively small number of big items that are expensive when they fail. It is availalbe from just £99.
The next level up is called the 'Ultimate Warranty' and includes a wider range of big, expensive parts, and parts which were excluded from the 'Complete' product because they have a higher failure rate.
However it is only when you buy the 'Ultimate Plus Warranty' that they cover 'wear and tear.'
Whenever wear and tear is excluded, in Warranty Expert's view, it creates the potential for conflict and disappointment at claim time.
Go Car Warranty define wear and tear as, "the expected gradual reduction or deterioration in operating performance and/or function of any covered part due to the age and/or mileage and/or usage of the Vehicle."
So, on any car over 5 years, there is significant scope for them to refuse payment on a part, because it is simply worn out by age.
When you buy a Go warranty that includes wear and tear, they also introduce 'betterment.' This means that because they are replacing old parts with new, they think your car is better, and ask for a contribution to the cost, so that they have only paid for the proportion of cost that returns the car to its previous working standard. Warranty Expert does not agree with this view, but it is common to most insurance warranties.
The Go warranty strengths, are that they do not have mileage limits, or exclusion periods at the start of a warranty. They also allow you to claim up to the limit of the car's current value within the policy period. Even if that is through several claims.
You can also have your car repaired at franchise or independent garages, and they protect you against breakdown abroad for up to 60 days.
Like many of their competitors, they pay up to £100 towards the cost of towing your car, and £60 towards hotel expenses or a rail ticket if your vehicle breaks down in a location or circumstance that prevents you being able to drive home. They will also contriubte to a hire car, albeit only for 7 days and only up to £30 per day.
