Ford call their extended warranty 'Protect mechanical breakdown insurance'.
A Ford Protect Mechanical Breakdown Insurance can extend your protection after your initial Ford Warranty ends. This way, if you're planning on keeping your Ford, you can continue driving with confidence. It provides two levels of cover: Gold, for vehicles up to 5 years/60,000 miles and Comprehensive, for vehicles over 5 years/60,000 miles.

Ford Protect Gold - for vehicles up to 5 years/60,000 miles
Ford Protect Gold is for vehicles up to five years old and/or 60,000 miles driven at date of purchase.
Cover for all mechanical and electrical components
The Gold policy provides protection in the event of a mechanical or electrical component failure (inclusive of parts and labour costs) for the full period of the policy, regardless of mileage travelled (subject to the terms, conditions and listed exclusions).

Details Of Ford Extended Car Warranty Cover
Ford Protect Gold includes:
- Wear and tear cover - cover for mechanical or electrical failure of covered components as a result of wear and tear will cease after the vehicle mileage exceeds 70,000 miles
- Catalytic converters - cover for the catalytic converter due to mechanical failure will cease after the vehicle mileage exceeds 70,000 miles
- In-car entertainment - covers factory- or dealer-fitted manufacturer radio/cassette/CD player (dashboard mounted, single slot CD players only)
- Working materials - oils, oil filter and anti-freeze are covered only if it is essential to replace them as a result of a valid claim on a covered component

Cover for listed component parts
The Ford Comprehensive policy provides protection in the event of a listed mechanical or electrical component failure (inclusive of labour costs). This coverage lasts for the full period of the policy, regardless of mileage travelled (subject to terms, conditions and exclusions).
Ford Protect Comprehensive includes elements of:
- Engine (all internal lubricated parts)
- Manual gearbox
- Automatic gearbox
- Torque converter
- Differential
- Clutch
- Front-wheel drive
- Wheel bearings
- Prop shaft
- Rear-wheel drive
- Fuel system (diesel and petrol)
- Fuel injection system
- Engine cooling system
- Air conditioning (factory filled)
- Steering (including power-assisted steering)
- Turbocharger (factory fitted)
- Front and rear suspension
- Brakes
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS - factory fitted)
- Electrical system
- Engine management (ECU)
- Working materials
- Casings
What's excluded from Ford's Extended Warranty
Exclusions
- Failures caused by accidental damage, misuse or neglect
- Vehicles that have been modified and/or used for racing or rallying
- Vehicles used for short-term rental (although vehicles on more than six months lease are eligible) and vehicles used for daily hire or taxi services
- Repairs carried out by anyone other than a Ford Authorised Dealer
- Any consequential loss due to any failure covered by the Warranty
- Claims during any period in which you commission a Ford Authorised Dealer or other third party to resell your vehicle
- Any loss, damage or failure which occurs when the vehicle isn't in one of our covered countries
Parts not covered by Ford Direct warranty
The warranty covers failure due to manufacturing or material defects in original specification components, except those listed below:
- Standard service parts -air cleaners, oil filters and gaskets, spark plugs, fluids and oils.
- Normal wear and tear parts -ancillary drive belts, batteries, brake friction material (including discs), bulbs, clutch facings, exhaust pipes and silencers (although catalytic converters are covered), fuses, lamps, shock absorbers and MacPherson struts, tyres, wiper blades, checks and adjustments.
- Trim and bodywork -interior trims, glass (heating elements are covered), seat covers and pads, bumpers, mouldings, paint, sheet metal, water ingress, weatherstrip and body seals, aerials and wheels.
